NB-IOT: A new cellular option for IoT

NB-IoT: Cellular IoT

Traditional cellular service providers are moving aggressively to service the new emerging markets of IoT and M2M connectivity.

3GPP Release 14 defined two new Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) network standards, LTE Cat M1 and LTE Cat NB1 (NB-IOT).

NB-IOT is one of the new cellular standards targeted to support sensor type and cellular connection applications which need to operate under battery power for ten years or more.

Applications include:

Industrial IoT
Smart Cities
Smart Health
Smart Home

Available Products:  NB-IOT (LTE Cat NB1) Transceiver

NB-IoT focuses specifically on indoor coverage, low cost, long battery life, and enabling a large number of connected devices. The NB-IoT technology can be deployed “in-band” in spectrum allocated to Long Term Evolution (LTE)—utilizing resource blocks within a normal LTE carrier, or in the unused resource blocks within an LTE carrier’s guard-band—or “standalone” for deployments in the dedicated spectrum. It is also suitable for the re-farming of GSM spectrum.
