PRIMARY PLANT MATERIAL: purple statice, delphiniums, roses, calla lilies, green cymbidium orchids, light blue tweedum, cream lisianthus

Our flowers and arrangement were inspired by this beautiful painting reminiscent of Gustav Klimt with lush colors and traces of gold. Our challenge was deciding the appropriate flowers and container that would interpret and compliment the movement in the painting. The pedestal container is cracked gold, but gold leaf was added to a plastic liner inside the container to make it more visible. We used purple statice and delphinium on the left of the arrangement to compliment the height. We used roses and calla lilies to compliment the light orange circles. Below all of this we chose green cymbidium orchids for the green at the bottom of the painting. The many colors in this painting required the use of more specific colors and many flowers such as light blue tweedum and cream lisianthus, along with other appropriate fillers. We used light blue pipe cleaners to depict the squares at the bottom left and middle right of the painting.

PRIMARY PLANT MATERIAL: gladiolas, delphiniums, dianthus green ball, palm leaves, New Zeland flax

When I first looked at this art piece I immediately thought “built with Legos”. It looks like Frank Lloyd Wright might have played with Legos and built this as a child. Then looking more closely it reminded me of some of the Frank Lloyd Wright architectural designs, mainly because of the squares, rectangles and cantilevered floors. I’ve taken those shapes and colors to create my design; modern home, modern design.

PRIMARY PLANT MATERIAL: spray roses, delphinium, Limonium, cottom, snapdragons, stock, eryngium, grevillea, silver brunia, foraged mosses

In my memory box
Are things I hold most dear
Treasures from my childhood, Memories passed and near

Special things once collected
A string of grandmother’s pearls
Dreams of days gone by
When I was just a girl

I open up the box
Reminisce for a moment or day
When everything was innocence
And every day was play
