Shelter Pets Need Your Help! Here’s How You Can Get Started Today

More than 250,000 dogs and cats are waiting in U.S. shelters right now, and another 80,000 across Canada, as shelter overcrowding and resource constraints reach crisis levels in many areas.

But acts of service, small and large, can help! That’s why we’re mobilizing our largest-ever shelter volunteer program, enlisting the help of over 60,000 Mars Associates and pet advocates across the U.S. and Canada for acts of service to help shelters and pets in need.

Will You Join Us?

Pets are always right by our side when we need them. Without hesitation, they give us support, protection, and so much more. But now, they need us. You can become a “Service Human” to help pets in your community:

Lend a hand at your local shelter. Volunteering your time can really help lighten the load for shelter teams as they manage through the growing shelter crisis.

Adopt or foster a pet! Opening your home to a dog or cat, even temporarily, helps them get out of the shelter into a loving home while making room for other pets in need.

Find your local shelter, follow them on social media and share their posts about adoptable pets. Shelters report that sharing pet pix on social media helps them get adopted faster!

We’ll be working alongside you, with Mars Associates from Mars Petcare, Mars Food, Mars Wrigley, Mars Edge, Mars Veterinary Health and Camp Bow Wow working toward 500,000 hours of volunteer support by the end of the year.

Plus, we’re expanding this year’s annual adoption weekend to six cities across the U.S., making it our biggest yet. Find out more about Adoption Weekend 2022 here.

Thank you!

Your support makes all the difference for pets in need. On behalf of homeless pets across North America, thank you for your acts of service as we all work together to reduce the burden on shelters and help dogs and cats find loving homes. See more about the “Service Humans Needed” program here.
