Join Girls in Tech for a global virtual hackathon to design innovative solutions for those impacted by Breast Cancer (patients, survivors, caregivers).

According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Although breast cancer is the most common cancer in the world among women, increased awareness, early detection/screening, and improved treatment options have helped aid in the decline of death rates over the past 30 years. It's our priority to raise awareness for Breast Cancer and mobilize our Girls in Tech community to develop tech solutions for this disease. This tech challenge will do just that, as we encourage the development of tools to promote prevention, monitor treatments, and address health disparities especially for women of color.

McKesson will work with Hackathon winners to utilize these tech solutions as a mobile platform for the McKesson Cause Network, a collection of McKesson employees who are interested in networking and sharing information and resources to help those who have been touched by cancer.

PRODUCT CHALLENGE IDEAS:

Participants are encouraged to develop mobile application solutions for challenges mentioned in the following tracks. Projects outside of the following tracks are welcome as long as they address a relevant need related to Breast Cancer awareness, prevention, monitoring, and treatment.

  1. Develop a solution to address the systemic challenges that prevent women of color from receiving Breast Cancer screenings and/or treatment.
  2. Design a solution to help Breast Cancer patients and caregivers find reliable and credible information with ease.
  3. Create a tool or method/solution to monitor side effects of specific cancer treatments in Breast Cancer.
  4. Create a tool or method/solution to monitor activities and/or actions to prevent Breast Cancer.
