Acting AG Whitaker’s Financial Disclosure Forms Released

On Tuesday, American Oversight obtained and posted Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker’s financial disclosure forms. Last week, American Oversight demanded that details of Whitaker’s potential conflicts of interest be released and urged the Office of Government Ethics to investigate the Department of Justice’s long delay in making the financial disclosure reports available to the public.

The forms, which can be seen here, list five dates of revision, all occurring after his appointment as acting attorney general the day following the November 6 election — including one revision on November 20, the day the forms were released.

American Oversight Executive Director Austin R. Evers released this statement:

“It’s striking that Matt Whitaker revised his disclosure form five times in the weeks after he was appointed as acting Attorney General. Congress should demand every version of this form to find out exactly what financial details Whitaker added or removed from his disclosures before releasing them to the public.”
