The Los Angeles Section of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and the Hollywood Section of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers® (SMPTE®) will host a joint meeting on Thursday, January 31, at the Sony Pictures Studio lot in Culver City, exploring sound production for Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animations’ Golden Globe-winning feature film "Spider-Man™: Into the Spider-Verse".


Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind "The Lego Movie" and "21 Jump Street", bring their unique talents to a fresh vision of a different Spider-Man Universe, with a groundbreaking visual style that’s the first of its kind. “Spider-Man™: Into the Spider-Verse” introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.


The meeting will start with clips and a panel discussion followed by a screening of the film. Panelists will include Supervising Sound Editors Geoffrey Rubay and Curt Schulkey, Re-Recording Mixer/Sound Designer Tony Lamberti, and Re-Recording Mixer Michael Semanick. The discussion will be moderated by Carolyn Giardina of The Hollywood Reporter. (Participants subject to change.)


The meeting will be held in the Kim Novak Theater. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the 1-hour panel discussion beginning at 7:30 p.m., followed by the screening.

Individual reservations are required for all person entering the Sony Pictures Studio lot. No one under the age of eighteen (18) will be allowed. There will be no exceptions to these requirements.
