About the Program

TestWELL Tutors foster a positive learning experience for Honors students across campus

During their academic career, all students can benefit from the assistance of a trained tutor. The testWELL Learning Center provides free tutoring services available to all West Virginia University undergraduate students. All testWELL tutors are certified and members of the National Tutoring Association.

AVAILABLE TUTORING TOPICS:

  • STEM: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Forensic & Investigative Science, Geology, Geography, Physics, Physiology, and Mathematics.
  • Non-STEM: Communication Sciences and Disorders, Economics, English, History, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and various languages, including French, German, Spanish, and Russian.

Tutoring Schedule

Students can access tutoring without an appointment via the dates and locations listed below.

  • Monday and Wednesday from 7 - 10 p.m. in the Honors Hall Media Room.
  • Tuesday and Thursday from 7 - 10 p.m. in the Lincoln Hall Library.
  • Monday through Thursday from 7 - 10 p.m. via Zoom.


Tutoring appointment

In addition to drop-in tutoring, the testWELL Learning Center offers appointment-based tutoring during learning center hours. Students can make an appointment through Navigate to meet with a tutor one-on-one in the learning center for course-based tutoring. To make an appointment:

  • Visit wvu.campus.eab.com or click Navigate in your WVU Portal.
  • In the right-hand corner, click "Get Assistance."
  • Select "Tutoring" as your appointment and service types.
  • Pick a date and click "Find Available Time."
  • Scroll down under the calendar to see location/course, etc. on the left.
  • Select "In Office" or "Virtual" for how you'd like to meet.
  • Select "Preferred Location."
  • Select "Course" for which you want to receive tutoring
  • Review appointment details and hit "Schedule."

How To Get Involved

TestWELL Tutors foster a positive learning experience for Honors students across campus

Students interested in becoming a tutor must be in good academic standing in the Honors College. Applications open and interviews take place only during the fall semester. If selected, students will enroll in HONR 201: Foundations of Peer Mentoring during the spring semester. Students must successfully pass the HONR 201 course and pass the certification exam. Students will enroll in HONR 301: Advanced Peer Tutoring during their first semester as a certified tutor. For questions, reach out to Ashley.Watts@mail.wvu.edu
