Access was born from a forgotten forklift.

While shopping at a major retailer in 1998, Access Control Group’s CEO noticed an unattended forklift with the key left in the ignition for any shopper to access. After discovering that many retail store accidents resulted from the unauthorized use of forklifts, Access launched its first product, the AutoLock – a simple keyless entry system. This was the first of many products that would establish Access as a leader in innovation in the industrial equipment management industry.

As eCommerce continues to rise year-after-year, the supply chain industry has been forced to keep up with the increased demand and operational standards by expanding across multiple locations, increasing their overall asset count. Manual fleet management is no longer an option and more robust solutions are necessary to manage safety and compliance efforts.

After recognizing this need and acknowledging that a web-based application was the solution to remotely managing assets, Access introduced the industry’s first digital fleet management system – Vigilant.
