- Gina Raimondo (D-RI) recently pushed for a bill to allow abortions until live birth. In all, over 20 states in the nation allow abortion of full term babies.

Sen. Angela Hill (R-Picayune) introduced a bill banning abortion after a baby's heartbeat is detected. The bill (SB2116) passed out of committee yesterday. The House of Representatives, under the leadership of Rep. Philip Gunn (R-MS), is also considering a very similar heartbeat bill, HB732, introduced by Rep. Chris Brown (R-MS). This bill, too, has passed out of committee for floor debate and vote.
A baby's heartbeat can be detected at six weeks of pregnancy according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) website. ACOG further indicates that in the sixth to eighth week of pregnancy, all major organs have started to develop, as well as the baby's eyes, ears and nose. Even Planned Parenthood recognizes theses same scientific facts.
