Planting a Legacy: The North East Trees Story

In 1989, Scott and a dedicated group of volunteers initiated an ambitious endeavor, planting oaks on Fiji Hill, Los Angeles. This marked the beginning of an extraordinary vision taking root.

Officially incorporated in 1991, we swiftly became influential in urban greening. North East Trees significantly contributed to building parks along the Los Angeles River and beyond!

Scott Wilson, a retired teacher, landscape architect, and certified arborist, founded North East Trees with a clear mission: plant five trees a day. His love for Northeast Los Angeles and a passion for urban nature drove this endeavor, leading to the organization's creation. North East Trees left its mark on the city, making it infinitely greener.

Today, North East Trees has grown to empower community members to turn their neighborhoods into green, flourishing spaces. Through our dedicated crews, together, we have transformed landscapes and promoted a sustainable future for Los Angeles.

We are a proud beacon for urban habitat preservation, and we understand that Los Angeles is one of the world's official biodiversity hotspots. With expertise and strategic planning, we have undertaken stewardship and restoration projects aimed at promoting native vegetation, enhancing water quality, mitigating fire and flood risks, and much more. Our commitment extends to our Native Plant Nursery, where we nurture thousands of hyper-local plants annually.
