Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Experience the thrills of Bering Sea without leaving the calm, sheltered waters of the Inside Passage. This eventful cruise, created by boat owner and Alaska fisherman David Lethin, aboard the Aleutian Ballad is the ideal Alaska adventure for the whole family. After years of back-breaking work in the commercial crab fisheries, Captain Lethin converted his famous boat so he could share the bounty of the ocean and stories of life at sea.

Imagine being aboard a real Bering Sea crab fishing boat from the award-winning TV series "Deadliest Catch" on a relaxing jaunt off the coast of Ketchikan. Discover breathtaking places where the fishing is extreme, the marine life is mind-boggling, and the out-of-this-world scenery stirs your imagination. Take it all in from your seat in the heated, sheltered stadium-style lower deck or from your favorite spot out on the open-air top deck. You'll see amazing sea creatures and get hands-on experience while interacting with crabs, prawns, octopus and more: all designed to bring the world of the commercial fisherman to life. Watch in awe as the crew hauls up 700 lb. crab pots laden with Alaska King crabs. Get a spine-tingling glimpse of the crab fisherman's craft as a variety of crabs are pulled out of the crab pot and placed in an on-deck aquarium for up close viewing. If you are willing, you can try your hand at holding one yourself for the perfect photo to share when you get home. The crew will also pull up barrel pots in hopes of catching octopus and wolf eels and reel in long lines hung with colorful rock fish and more. One-by-one, each creature will be revealed, reviewed and offered up to adventurous guests for up close encounters. Your time on board will be filled with family fun and interlaced with action-packed stories about life on the sea. A stop near Annette Island may offer sightings of bald eagles, seals, sea lions, whales, and native Alaska fishermen at work.

Arriving back at the dock, you'll cap off your tour with the short walk back to the ship, brimming with memories about the Aleutian Ballad and her crew.
