Why Summer Ignite?

EARN CREDIT TOWARD YOUR TECHNICIAN TRAINING
By successfully completing the Summer Ignite Program, you can receive credit toward your education if you choose to attend UTI after high school.

EXPLORE A NEW FIELD
Attending the Ignite program can be a great way for you to explore a new field and see what a career in the transportation industry could be like.

SAME SKILLS AT NO COST
As a Summer Ignite student, you will have the opportunity to train using industry tools and technology as you learn some of the same skills taught in UTI courses.

TECHNICIANS ARE IN DEMAND
There are more than 134,000 combined average annual automotive, diesel, and welding job openings in the United States.52

MAKE CONNECTIONS
As you complete your training, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with other students with similar interests and meet employers who have hired UTI graduates.

IT’S FUN!
What better way to spend summer break than pursuing your passion? By attending Summer Ignite, you can learn in-demand skills in a fun, upbeat atmosphere.

What to Expect

With Summer Ignite, you’ll get hands-on experience using the same tools, technology and even training labs as our full-time students.18 Summer Ignite students can train in automotive or motorcycle programs. The skills taught in the program are the same as those included in some UTI courses, but at no cost to you.33

Those who successfully complete the program and choose to attend one of UTI's tech schools after their senior year of high school can receive credit toward their education. You could be one step closer to post-graduation training for a career as a skilled technician!32

PROGRAM TOPICS MAY INCLUDE:

  • How vehicles are designed and manufactured
  • How gasoline and diesel engines work
  • Fundamental diagnostic, maintenance and repair skills
  • Exciting technologies including computer management and control systems
  • Steps to safely service hydraulic brakes
  • Information on career opportunities for qualified technicians

"The Ignite program is a great way to expose students to how exciting a career in the transportation industry can be. Students get an understanding not only of what hands-on training looks like, but they also get a glimpse into industry needs and what employers are looking for."
