About us
Located in downtown Long Beach and Los Angeles California, Studio One Eleven is an integrated practice of architecture, landscape, and urban design dedicated to creating vibrant communities. From master plans to individual buildings, each endeavor aims at making a more humane and sustainable urban whole. We believe that the purpose of architecture is the making of the City. From the geography of the region to the disposition of blocks and buildings, every urban component has an interdependent relationship with all others. We view every project as an opportunity to physically enhance the urban context that sustains it. In contrast to an 'architecture of time', ours is an 'architecture of place'. Our designs are not predicated by a singular language, but are inspired through the careful assessment of the history, climate, culture and context of the place where they stand. We believe that the best way to improve the future of a place is to understand its past, patterns and precedents.

In honor of World Landscape Architecture Month, we would like to do a throwback highlight of our project, Urban Green. This project was a recipient of ASLA Nevada’s Project of the Year Award in 2023 and we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on it today. Landscape architects are important agents of change. As members of a STEM profession, we bring science and design together to make our communities healthier and more beautiful places to live, work, and play. Landscape architecture is an integral part of our practice at Studio One Eleven – dedicated to improving urban life and fostering more vibrant, resilient, sustainable, and equitable cities. #WLAM2024 #landscapearchitecture #architecture Photographer: Caitlin Atkinson

Working with the City of Huntington Beach, we developed a design to beautify and enhance the Oak View Neighborhood by collaborating with a local artist, and engaging the community to gain feedback. Studio One Eleven also conceptualized the design of all the streetscapes, wayfinding, planting, colorful graphics and lighting throughout the project. City of Huntington Beach Caltrans

Great news for our Fourth and Central project in DTLA with Continuum Partners. We are happy that Governor Newsom has certified the project’s application for the Environmental Leadership Development Program. This makes the project eligible for judicial streamlining due to its heightened environmental and labor standards, contributing to the local economy while providing much-needed affordable housing. Along with that news is the announcement of a labor agreement that will guarantee that all construction jobs will be unionized, generating more than 10,000 jobs for skilled craftspeople. We are proud to be part of a project that will deliver jobs, housing, and environmental benefits to the City of Los Angeles. https://lnkd.in/gjH9zvsj City of Los Angeles Los Angeles Times Continuum Partners, LLC

Our commitment to enhancing urban life takes center stage with our "Activate Our Cities" initiative. In our recent collaboration with DTLB Art Walk at Acres of Books, we transformed a vacant iconic building into a vibrant art space. Kudos to the talented artists (Monica Nouwens, Seria Project in collaboration with Poster Territory, Phung Huynh, Chakra Sokhomsan, and Adam Leeman), curators (Sinead Finnerty-Pyne and Mario Ybarra Jr.) and sponsors Liquid Death, Golden Rule Spirits for making this a success! Special thanks to Forman and Associates for donating your lighting products to illuminate the space, truly bringing it back to life.
